India skipper Virat Kohli turned 31 on Tuesday (November 5) and as expected wishes poured in from all corners for him. Virat Kohli is arguably the best batsman in the world right now, having dominated teams across the world in all the formats. He is already considered one of the greatest players to have graced the game.

The birthday boy has so far scored 21036 runs in 393 matches across formats. In Test matches, he has scored 7066 runs in 82 matches while in ODIs, he has amassed a staggering 11,520 runs in just 239 matches. In the shortest format of the game, Virat Kohli has scored 2,450 runs in 72 matches.

He is the second in the list of the most ODI centuries. Virat Kohli has already scored 43 centuries and need 6 more to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s tally which looked almost untouchable at one stage. And as Kohli turned 31, the BCCI took to Twitter to post the clip of the match where he scored his first-ever century in international cricket. The right-handed batsman’s first century came against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in December 2009. Virat Kohli had scored 107 runs and formed a formidable partnership with Gautam Gambhir to help India chase down 315 under lights. Kohli was so good with the bat in the match that Gambhir had handed him his own Man of the Match award despite scoring 150.

Here is the tweet by BCCI:

Kohli, meanwhile, is currently on rest and is thus missing the ongoing three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. He will return to lead the side when the two-match Test series starts later this month.
