In his illustrious career so far, Ravichandran Ashwin has played with and against some of the greatest T20 players of all time. The off-spinner has played against the likes of Chris Gayle, David Warner, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Brendon McCullum, Virat Kohli, Andre Russell and several big names in the game.

He has enjoyed good success too. In international cricket, the Tamil Nadu ace has picked up 52 wickets in 46 games and has a remarkable economy-rate of 6.97. In IPL too, he has an economy-rate of less than 7. He has picked up 125 wickets in IPL so far while conceding just 6.79 runs per over.

Having played against almost all the big names of T20 cricket, Ravichandran Ashwin recently revealed the name of his toughest opponent. Well, the player is none other than his India and former IPL skipper MS Dhoni.

“Toughest batsman to bowl to in T20, I always rate MS Dhoni to be one of the greatest T20 batsmen, especially towards the end,” Ravichandran Ashwin said during an Instagram Live session before hailing him as captain, saying: “MSD one of the greatest captain India has ever seen, one of the greatest captains IPL has ever seen.”

If not for the pandemic, both Ravichandran Ashwin and MS Dhoni would have come face to face in the IPL. While Dhoni was set to play for Chennai Super Kings, Ravichandran Ashwin was gearing up to represent Delhi Capitals for the very first time.

But earlier this month, the BCCI suspended the IPL indefinitely in the light of the coronavirus pandemic. The thirteenth edition of the IPL was set to start on March 29 with a blockbuster clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai.
