Not Playing In Pakistan For Security Reasons Is Injustice - Moeen Ali

The stylish southpaw of the England Cricket Team, Moeen Ali feels Pakistan is a safe country to play International cricket. He further believes that not playing in Pakistan because of security reasons is injustice, as he feels no place in the world is a safe place at the moment.

Pakistan is currently hosting its annual Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 and it is for the first time that the tournament is being held entirely on its own soil. Recently, two international teams — Sri Lanka and Bangladesh also paid visits to Pakistan for full-fledged tours. However, a few players denied to travel with the team.

Moeen, a player of Pakistani descent, is currently in Pakistan to play for Multan Sultans in the PSL and speaking exclusively to The Cricketer, he said that not playing in Pakistan is injustice, as safety measures are being in place firmly like any other country provide for the players.

Further, England all-rounder Moeen Ali has expressed hope that England will tour to Pakistan soon as many English cricketers are already playing in the country for the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

“I think it (Pakistan’s security reputation) is a little bit unfair because you’re not safe anywhere. It can be wrong place, wrong time. Even in England now, the crime rate’s massive,” he said.

“I just feel the perception you have from the outside is it’s not safe to go. My counter-argument is it’s not safe anywhere, really. Yes, there are some places you might feel a bit safer but the security has been really impressive. We had the same thing in Bangladesh a few years ago when some guys didn’t go. It was brilliant.”

A decade ago, Terrorists attacked a bus carrying a Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore. Since the attack, foreign teams have not dared to visit Pakistan.
