Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has lavished praise on pacer Jasprit Bumrah while explaining what makes the India star so special with the ball. Currently playing for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2020, Jasprit Burmah has looked almost unplayable in the second half of the competition.

He did not look at his best in the initial matches but has now hit the top gear and is currently the second highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 27 wickets to his name. Jasprit Bumrah had managed to pick up only seven wickets in his first five games at an average of 25.14 while conceding more than 8 runs per over.

But in his last nine games, he has hit the top form. In those 9 games, the pacer has picked up an impressive 20 wickets at an outstanding average of 10. His economy-rate of only 5.55 in those 9 games just proves how tough he has been for the batsmen to play.

And as Jasprit Bumrah gears up for IPL 2020 final, Gautam Gambhir has tried to explain what makes him so lethal. The batting legend said that not the yorker but a ‘fabulous slower one’ in the arsenal makes Jasprit Bumrah so special.

“It’s not the yorker, it’s the slower one. Someone who has got a fabulous slower one will always have a very threatening yorker. Actually you are looking for a slower one and suddenly you get that perfect yorker,” Gautam Gambhir told ESPNcricinfo.

“That’s why Malinga was so good. Malinga had a brilliant slower one and his yorkers were lethal. It’s exactly the same with Jasprit Bumrah,” he added.

A lot of teams try to see off Jasprit Bumrah and try to attack other bowlers. Speaking about that, the former Kolkata Knight Riders skipper said that it won’t help the batsmen much as Bumrah is capable enough to beat them on their defence.

“Opposition has been trying to see him off but he is just too good a bowler to knock them off. If you see most of the dismissals, they just got beaten by absolute beauties, said Gautam Gambhir while speaking about the dismissals of Shikhar Dhawan and Marcus Stoinis during the first Qualifier.

“You try to see him off but he will beat you on the defence, he will beat you on the outside edge, he will beat you on the inside edge. He has that much quality to get you out on your defence. It’s exactly like Jofra Archer as well,” he added.
