Dhoni finished the series against Australia by collecting the man of the series award. He was in a sensational form, who bagged three half-centuries in a row and only dismissed once, which was also an error in the judgement by the umpire.

The swashbuckling batsman Suresh Raina believes that the number 4 slot for Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a perfect choice. He added that the former skipper has got his nick back, which is a good thing for India, especially, in the current situation.

He also lauded Virat Kohli for backing the experienced player, who had a pretty poor last one year. He believes that the backup of the Indian skipper would allow MS Dhoni to play with much more confidence. Raina also quoted that Dhoni can be the best anchor player for India in the 50-over format.

“The last couple of games, he has been batting well. He can bat well with the tailenders also. If he can bat at four, he can also finish games with the five, six and seven. A lot of players can play around him,” Raina told SportStar on the eve of India’s first ODI against New Zealand in Napier.

“He has been playing with a positive frame of mind. He is hitting the ball really well, and most importantly, he is getting a lot of backup and support from Virat (Kohli). If you have the support of the captain, then you just go out there and express yourself. The No 4 slot suits him,” he added.

It was not only Suresh Raina but also the vice-captain of India, Rohit Sharma believes that Mahendra Singh Dhoni can be the best number 4 batsman in the current scenario. In fact, Dhoni proved it more often than not.

Recently, when Dhoni was asked the same, the former skipper quoted that he is happy to play at any position for India, especially, after playing for 14 years.
