Pakistan are unwilling to give up on hosting full-fledged cricketing action in their den. With no terror attack and other issues in the country, Pakistan Cricket Board believes international cricket will follow them around like a shadow.

It should be noted that they were expelled by the international teams for almost 10 years in the aftermath of the unexpected attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009. After the attack, the teams did not tour Pakistan owing to security reasons.

Needless to say, there was a fair bit of progress for Pakistan in the last few years. It is worth mentioning here that Zimbabwe toured Pakistan in the year 2015 and became the first nation to visit the country in the wake of the 2009 foray.

In the succeeding years, 2017 and 2018, West Indies and Sri Lanka toured the nation and did not face any problem with security. To revive the gentleman’s game in their own backyard, Pakistan had hosted a World XI side for a three-match T20 series in 2017.

The Green Shirts have a tussle ahead as they lock horns with Australia for a three-match T20I and a 2-match Test series. Following the series, they will cross swords with Sri Lanka in a red-ball format.

Pakistan have been planning to move away from hosting games at their adopted den, UAE as they have ideas to host the games in their own den itself. The PCB recently had announced Rawalpindi and Karachi as the venues for 2 ICC Test Championship fixtures in December.

It would be quite interesting to see whether this move would pan out and if suppose, it goes ahead as per schedule, it will be the first Test series in Pakistan in a decade.
