Pakistan Super League 2019: Misbah-ul-Haq will Not be a Part of Season 4 - Sources

Former Pakistan captain, Misbah-ul-Haq will not be a part of the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), as per the recent reports. Meanwhile, Misbah-ul-Haq-led Islamabad United had won the PSL two times in the past.

No Misbah in PSL 2019?

However, he has been with the franchise for all its last three seasons. Meanwhile, according to reports, there have been some discussions going on between the franchise and Misbah about his next official role. The sources also added Islamabad United badly wants Misbah-ul-Haq as the mentor of the team. Moreover, the former captain has some good connections with the team members as well as the franchise.

Moreover, the sources also added Tauseef Ahmed would not be a part of the coaching department. Meanwhile, off-spinner, Saeed Ajmal who served a prolonged period is likely to be added to the mentoring staff. However, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will consist of six teams – Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators.

However, 2019 PSL will be the fourth edition of the league. The new PCB chairman, Ehsan Mani announced on 15 September that tournament would start from 14 February 2019 in the UAE. Meanwhile, the last eight games will be held in Pakistan along with the final that will be played on 17 March in Karachi. 

Meanwhile, Misbah-ul-Haq has served the Pakistan team for quite an extended period. The former captain had played 75 Tests scoring 5222 runs averaging 46.62 with the highest score of unbeaten 161. He was mostly associated with the white-ball cricket, as compared to Tests. Also, Mishab had some healthy average of 43.40 in ODIs scoring 5122 runs from 162 matches.

Speaking about Misbah-ul-Haq, he was one of the potential batsmen for the Men in Green. He had also played 39 T20Is for Pakistan with a strike rate of 110.20. In spite of playing many ODI matches, he failed to score a single century, as his best score remains unbeaten 96 runs.
