Pakistan is set to tour Zimbabwe without their fielding coach. Pakistan Cricket Board had selected Australia’s Darren Berry as their new fielding coach. However, Berry has informed the board he will join the team in September.

Thus, Berry will be able to join the Men in Green before the pivotal Asia Cup. Meanwhile, Berry has refused to take up the role for the Zimbabwe tour because of his prior commitments in Australia.

In fact, Pakistan’s current head coach, Mickey Arthur had recommended Darren Berry for the post.

Berry has the experience of giving guidelines to the state teams in Australian domestic circuit. Furthermore, the former wicketkeeper-batsman played for South Australia and Victoria in his career.

In fact, Berry’s name was shortlisted after Australia’s Steve Rixon completed his contract. Rixon last series was against Scotland, and he didn’t extend his contract. However, Rixon gave personal family reasons to end his tenure with the Pakistan team.

Moreover, Rixon refused to come to the ground in the second Test match in England at Headingley after the board delayed his monthly salary.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will play a T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe from July 1 with Australia been the third team.

After the T20I series, Sarfraz Ahmed-led team will play five One Day Internationals against the hosts which will kick off from July 13.
