Pakistan Cricket Board unveiled the much-debated Biscuit Trophy on the eve of the three-match T20I series against Australia commencing from October 24 (Wednesday).

Meanwhile, the series is likely to have a neck-to-neck competition with both teams having some quality players in their ranks. After an impressive effort in the first Test to salvage an unexpected draw, Australia’s inexperienced Test side went down by 373 runs in a horror performance in the second and final encounter of the two-match series. And, now the visitors will be hoping the shortest format offers a chance of redemption.

Earlier this year, Australia and Pakistan met three times in the tri-series in Zimbabwe. Pakistan emerged victorious twice, including their triumph in the final. Pakistan, the top-ranked T20I team, have their T20I unit settled and have done some decent job in recent years.

Australia, meanwhile, will have gained some confidence after thrashing the UAE in the only T20 on Monday, though stiffer tests await. The visitors are likely to keep faith with Monday’s line-up, with a swashbuckling top four of Chris Lynn, D’Arcy Short, Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell hoping to unsettle the Pakistan bowlers. Their batting doesn’t run particularly deep, though, so Australia will hope their top-order firepower yields the desired results.

Interestingly, Australia will have a chance to topple Pakistan as the top-ranked T20I team when both the teams face off. They will have whitewash Pakistan to be on the top of the ladder while a lesser series victory will see them edge past India for the second spot.
