Despite returning back to ODI format after a long time, Trent Boult showed no signs of rustiness against Pakistan. He bagged an exceptional hat-trick to enter his name in the record books. Speaking of the same, the lethal fast bowler highlights the luck factor in his achievement.

He ripped through the Pakistan top-order to make the achievement even more special. First, he outdid Fakhar Zaman and then sent back their best batsman Babar Azam. It was followed by a stunning inswinger to Mohammad Hafeez, which did the trick for him.

Speaking of the game, Trent Boult hailed the effort by the bowlers to restrict Pakistan from chasing the total. Despite the early wickets, Sarfraz Ahmed and Imad Wasim kept them in the race to chase the tally.

However, the decent performance by the entire bowling unit made the things work for them. Further, he also spoke on his basic technique to keep the things tight by hitting the right line and lengths.

“You are lucky enough to get a hat-trick. You get one and two, it’s pretty cool but to get three in a row was pretty satisfying. When the hat trick ball came around, I was just trying to make him (Hafeez) play and get the ball on the wickets. It was nice for it to swing back a little bit and trap him in front.”

“We put a lot of pressure on them at the start of the innings. They established a nice little partnership there (Sarfraz Ahmed and Imad Wasim’s 103-run stand). They took the game deep and were looking to bat the full 50 overs. It shows you that over here you have to be in the battle for full 100 overs. But credit to our bowling unit to stick at it and take wickets. It was nice to get the job done.”

However, as Trent Boult said, you need a bit of luck to acquire a hat-trick. Perhaps, his newborn baby might have brought him that much-required luck to his exceptional talent.
