Indian wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel has received a call-up from the selectors for India A side for the second unofficial Test against the touring New Zealand A.

The second unofficial Test will begin in Vijayawada on Saturday, 30th September. Parthiv is called up for the ill- Rishabh Pant, who caught fever during the third day of the first unofficial Test.

Sudip Chaterjee, the opening batsman from Bengal was made the makeshift keeper in Pant’s absence, though Parthiv is called up in the team, this is just a precautionary step taken by the BCCI and there could be a possibility that both these players can be in the playing XI.

In the ongoing Duleep Trophy, 32-year old Parthiv scored 17 and 26 in the first match for India Red but he did not get an opportunity to bat in the second game, as rain forced a draw in India Red vs. India Blue encounter.

Parthiv Patel has lead Gujarat to the Ranji Trophy title last year and he recently reached the 10,000 landmark in first-class cricket, won the IPL trophy and scored runs whenever he got the opportunity in the Indian setup.

India A are currently leading the Test series 1-0, the second match will be played with pink-ball though, due to lack of floodlights the match will be a day encounter, as BCCI made a last moment change after consultation with New Zealand Cricket.
