Parthiv Patel Risks Angering RCB Fans As He Calls Rohit Sharma Better Captain Than Virat Kohli

Parthiv Patel has risked angering Royal Challengers Bangalore fans by saying that Rohit Sharma is a ‘slightly better captain’ than Virat Kohli. The debate about who is the better captain between Kohli and Rohit has been doing the rounds ever since the latter guided Mumbai Indians to title in IPL 2020.

Both Kohli and Rohit had started leading their respective teams from the same year that is 2013. But while Rohit has led Mumbai Indians to five titles in just eight years, Kohli is still waiting for his first. In the recently-concluded season, RCB bowed out at the playoffs stage after losing to SunRisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator.

Ever since IPL 2020 ended, the cricket fraternity has been busy debating over the better captain between the two India cricket stalwarts. Several former players including Michael Vaughan and Gautam Gambhir have opined that Rohit should be made the India captain at least in the T20 format.

Now Parthiv Patel has joined the debate too. The wicketkeeper-batsman was a part of the RCB squad for IPL 2020 but did not play a single game despite being one of their best performers last year. Parthiv Patel, who has also played under Rohit Sharma in the IPL, said that the Mumbai Indians skipper is slightly better captain than his RCB counterpart.

The veteran cricketer stated that Rohit is better than Kohli in terms of decision making and game reading.

“The talk is about who takes a better decision, who reads the game better, who makes a better decision in a pressure situation which helps a team win – In that regard, Rohit Sharma as a captain is slightly better than Virat Kohli,” Parthiv Patel told Star Sports.
