Shahid Afridi slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not helping out ace pacer Shaheen Afridi with the costs of his rehabilitation for the knee injury he sustained against Sri Lanka, as he claimed that Shaheen is paying from his own pocket in London for his treatment.

Shaheen Afridi traveled with Pakistan to UAE for the recent Asia cup 2022 tournament but didn’t play as he was not named in the squad after suffering a serious knee injury during the first Test against Sri Lanka at home.

The PCB has announced the Pakistan squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 and Shaheen Afridi is a part of it. It is expected that the left-arm pacer will be fully fit to bowl by next month.

A PCB release stated: “Afridi is expected to resume bowling early next month and will join the squad in Brisbane on October 15. Wasim Jr has been included after recovering completely from the side strain he suffered during the Asia Cup.”

He stated: “Shaheen Afridi is paying for his rehabilitation himself in England. The PCB hasn’t done anything. I arranged a doctor for him, and then he contacted the doctor when he landed there. From the coordination to his accommodation, he is doing everything on his own. Zakir Khan spoke to him just once or twice.”

Pakistan play their first World Cup match against India at the MCG on October 23. They will also play New Zealand, Afghanistan and two qualifiers in the group stage before the top two sides go to the semi-finals.
