Peter Siddle Keen To Prolong His Test Career

Veteran fast bowler Peter Siddle is keen to prolong his Test career with Australia. He concedes that he won’t be playing every game this summer but wants to play more of international cricket. Meanwhile, Siddle will lead the PM’s XI against Sri Lanka at Manuka Oval on Thursday.

Siddle, who will be turning 35 later this year will have a tough fight to make it to the squad for the Pakistan Tests. The right-arm pacer will go up against the likes Pat Cummins, James Pattinson, Josh Hazlewood and Mitch Starc to play Tests against Pakistan and New Zealand this summer.

The Australian quick, who pushed his case during the Ashes in England, admits that he still feels the urge to play for Australia. Peter Siddle also said that it was a great feeling to be a part of the historic Ashes, where the Aussies retained the urn in England after 18 years.

“If you’re not playing cricket to try and play at the highest level then that motivation, and will, to go out there diminishes. I’ve still got the hunger,” Siddle said. “It was a great Ashes series to play and be a part of over there,” he added.

Peter Siddle, who has represented Australia in 65 Test matches, is eyeing to stay fit and ready for any opportunities that come his way. He is aware that he will not be the favourite on all grounds but Siddle knows how to do the work for himself.

“I know I’m not going to be looked at for all venues in Australia but there is going to be others that I’m favoured to. It just comes down to staying fit and being ready to go when that opportunity comes,” he concluded.
