West Indies head coach Phil Simmons on Tuesday said he is looking forward to seeing the banter between Virat Kohli and Kesrick Williams continue in the 3rd and final T20I of the ongoing series. The ongoing series has been lighted up by the banter between the two cricketers with each winning one round so far.

It all started when Virat Kohli imitated Kesrick Williams‘s trademark ‘notebook celebration’ after taking the pacer to the cleaners during his match-winning knock of 94 in the first T20I. While the celebration from Kohli came out of the blue, he later said that he did it because Williams had given him a send-off during a T20I in 2017.

But Kohli failed to replicate his performance in the second game and what made matters worse for him was that he was dismissed by Williams. The West Indies pacer removed Kohli for 19 as India lost the game by eight wickets. Notably, Williams came up with a ‘silent celebration’, seemingly mimicking Virat Kohli as he put his index finger on his lips after getting the India captain dismissed.

Phil Simmons on the celebration:

Ahead of the series-decider in Mumbai, Phil Simmons had his say on the turn of events so far in the series. The West Indies coach said that the banter between Kohli and Williams has been good so far and said he is looking forward to round three of the same.

“The banter has been good, it has been interesting because they are 1-1 now because he [Virat] got Kesrick in the first match and Kesrick got him in the second. Let’s see who wins it tomorrow [Wednesday],” Phil Simmons said.

The stage, meanwhile, is set for the series-decider. Both the teams have registered one thumping win each so far and are in good form for the third T20I. The momentum will be with the visitors but India know how to bounce back from a defeat.
