Team India fast bowler, Umesh Yadav recently admitted that playing in Australia during his early days in international cricket has helped him earn name and fame.

Meanwhile, Yadav is currently a part of the Indian squad who is playing the first of the two-match Test series against the Windies in Rajkot. During the game, he bowled some good length deliveries ball but managed to pick up only one wicket. Moreover, Yadav also chipped in with useful runs scoring 22 runs from 24 balls including two massive sixes in the first innings.

With India set to tour Australia later this year, Umesh Yadav will play a significant part for the visiting side. Furthermore, he has had a good job so far during his previous tour to the Down Under. So far, Yadav has played seven Test matches in Australia bagging 25 wickets including one five-wicket haul.

Speaking on the same to ESPNCricinfo, Umesh admitted Australia has helped him earn name and fame during his early days.

Umesh Yadav says playing in Australia helped him earn name and fame.

“A lot of my career is associated with Australia. After my debut, my second tour was in Australia and I got a five-wicket haul. The World Cup also had gone well. I always think of Australia as a country where I have had good performances. It gave me quite a lot of name and fame when I was starting out.” Umesh Yadav said.

Furthermore, the fast bowler divulged on the details regarding getting success in Australia. He also admitted one needs to be cautious with the line and length, as the Kookaburra ball doesn’t help the fast bowlers after the initial 15 overs.

“There is good bounce there, so if your length is good and you have pace, you can get wickets. The Kookaburra ball doesn’t help fast bowlers much after the initial 15 or so overs, so you have to focus on line and length, like we do in India. But they have more pace and carry, which is why I think I have performed well there.” Umesh Yadav concluded.

India will play a three-match T20I series in Down Under followed by four Tests and three ODIs commencing from November 21.
