Pragyan Ojha announced his retirement from all forms of international and domestic cricket on Friday. The slow left-arm spinner lauded many Indian cricketing legends in his retirement letter and expressed that he got many special memories to cherish for a lifetime. Ojha declared that receiving Test cap from Sachin Tendulkar tops the chart.

The 33-year-old debuted for India in Tests back in 2009 against Sri Lanka and played his final Test match against the West Indies in 2013. His final Test match also happens to be legendary Tendulkar’s 200th and final Test. He finished the game with best bowling figures of his career.

“I can never forget the moment when I received my test cap from Sachin Tendulkar sir. I was extremely nervous but he made me feel so comfortable. Playing for India is a huge honour in itself but to be welcomed into the fold by Sachin sir himself was truly a special feeling,” shares Ojha, who announced his retirement from international and first-class cricket on Friday.

I don’t know what the future holds: Pragyan Ojha

Further, Ojha wants to spend the rest of his life; giving ample time to his son and also would like to stay close to the game in a commentator role. He also wants to explore other ways to do better with his life.

“I want to spend as much time as I can with Yohaan and watch him grow up. I’ve already entered commentary as well and will continue doing that. Apart from that, I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I can’t wait to find out,” he said.

Pragyan represented India in 24 Tests, taking 113 wickets including 7 five-fors. In ODIs and T20Is, Pragyan scalped 21 and 10 wickets, respectively. He had also played for the now-defunct franchise Deccan Chargers and four-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians (MI).

Ojha was part of the title-winning team in IPL 2009 where he played a significant role in the IPL 2009 final by picking up three for 28 in his four-over bowling spell.
