India’s young prodigy batsman Prithvi Shaw is included in Mumbai squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Shaw has recuperated from his ankle injury which he had suffered while attempting to take a catch in the warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI on the tour Down Under. Subsequently, the talented batsman had to miss out on the forthcoming Test series.

In fact, Shaw was backed as the first-choice opener after he had made an impressive debut against the Windies. Shaw had scored a breathtaking 134 on his debut against the Carribean team. However, the untimely ankle injury ruled him out of the tour of Australia.

Shaw is back.

Shaw who will get back into action after a long period of three months is looking forward to getting back to the field with all the zest.

“I am really looking forward to taking the field again and performing at my best. I have missed playing competitive cricket due to my injury and I’m ready now to give my best for Mumbai and India,” Shaw told TOI.

The 19-year Mumbai batsman has spent a good amount of time in his rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

Shaw showed his disappointment after he missed a chance to make his mark in the Test series against Australia. However, at the same time, Shaw is happy for the success of the team on the Australian tour.

Shaw will like to hit the ground running.

“I thought I would recover, but the swelling would keep coming back,” Shaw said.

“Initially, I was very sad to miss the Tests in Australia, because I wanted to win games for India. I would have gained good experience playing against a quality attack, but I can’t do anything about it. However, I felt better when we beat Australia in the Test series,” said the opener.

On Thursday, Prithvi Shaw cleared his Yo-Yo Test which has helped him find a place back into the Mumbai squad. Mumbai will be led by India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who had also led Rest of India in the recently concluded Irani Trophy.
