India’s latest batting sensation Prithvi Shaw has been reportedly threatened to stop playing cricket by political group – Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers.

Prithvi Shaw is hitting the headlines for all the right reasons at the moment. The 18-year old came into the Test team with a lot of hype and has totally justified the hype as well as the faith showed in him. He starred with the bat for India in the recently-concluded series against West Indies.

It was Shaw who hit the first four of the series and fittingly hit the last one too as India thrashed West Indies by 10 wickets in the second Test to sweep the series. In doing so, Shaw became the second-youngest in the history of Test cricket to hit the winning runs after Pat Cummins.

The right-handed batsman opened the series with a blistering 134-run knock. In the following innings he scored 70 off just 53 balls before scoring an unbeaten 33 to take India home. Shaw finished the series with 234 runs which was enough for him to earn the man-of-the-series award.

But amidst all this, a disturbing news is doing the rounds. Rajya Sabha Member of Indian National Congress from Bihar, Akhilesh Prasad Singh has claimed that Shaw has been threatened to quit the game.

According to Mr. Akhilesh, Shaw, who is a native of Bihar, has been warned by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader and workers to stop playing cricket. Mr. Akhilesh alleged that MNS President is miffed with Shaw after the latter said he is from Bihar despite learning the game in Maharashtra.

“Prithvi Shaw, International Cricketer living in Manpur of Bihar’s Gaya district is facing harassment from MNS in Maharashtra. MNS leaders and workers are threatening his family and asking them to tell Prithvi to quit cricket,” Mr Akhilesh said.

However, MNS have denied the allegations and have called them baseless.
