Of late, advertising has become a massive thing in the Indian market. People are following their heroes while choosing a particular product to buy on a regular basis. The stalwart players like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, had advertised for the numerous brands over the years. Meanwhile, the latest sensation in the town is Prithvi Shaw, who is a red-hot ambassador for the marketers.

As per the law, the organisations or the business brands can highlight the name of a particular celebrity in a case of signing them as the brand ambassador. However, it wasn’t the case with Prithvi Shaw, as Swiggy, Amul and Freecharge brands have used his name without any concern of Prithvi.

We have initiated the complaint against Swiggy and Freecharge – Prithvi Shaw’s manager

Meanwhile, taking the legal step, Prithvi Shaw’s manager lodged a complaint against Swiggy and Freecharge for using his name Shaw in promoting their brands on the social media while applauding his efforts for debut century.

He added that it is okay for them if the brands tweet the congratulatory wishes for Shaw, but he doesn’t want them to use Prithvi Shaw name in promoting their brands.

“We have initiated action against Swiggy and Freecharge. We are also trying to figure out the other brands who have unlawfully used the talent with an intent to promote their brand. To tweet a congratulatory message is fine. But here it’s far beyond that. Now Thugs of Hindustan is a big hit. Can you dare to it with the iconic stars whose presence makes the movie a blockbuster,” Baseline Ventures Managing Director Tuhin Mishra told insidesports.com.

“We cannot be unfair to our sponsors who pay to associate with the player. Protinex and Indian Oil were the rightful owners to associate with Prithvi, but how can any brand claim to be ‘Prithvi ka favourite…’ With such ambush marketing tactics you are not just cheating the star player who has backed his talent with years of hard work and perseverance to achieve what makes him a celebrity worth this commercial value,” he added.

However, Prithvi Shaw’s managers have got all the valid points in his kitty to lodge the notice against the brands. They have also asked the compensation of INR 1 crore for wrongly using the name of Prithvi Shaw. Meanwhile, Swiggy is trying their best to come out from the issue.
