Priyanka Raina ecstatic after hubby Suresh Raina clinches MOM award

Recently concluded T20I series between India and South Africa would remain special for one man named Suresh Raina. He impressed one and all with his aggressive instincts coming in at number 3 for India throughout the innings.

This comes as music to the years for Suresh Raina fans who hope to see the explosive-yet-elegant southpaw feature in the World Cup of 2019. One of the many ardent fans of Raina, wife Priyanka Raina, could not conceal her emotions after witnessing her husband clinch the man of the match award at Cape Town.

Raina last played for India against South Africa in the home series of 2015. After a string of unimpressive performances and fitness issues, the left-hander was dropped from the side.

Even though he made sporadic appearances for India post T20 World Cup of 2016 in the shortest format of the game, Raina went out of favour from the Indian squad for a substantial amount of time.

It was expected that Raina would make a comeback in the Sri Lanka series last year but he failed to clear the much-hyped Yo-Yo Test. Heartbroken with repeated failures to make the cut into the Indian side, Raina trained hard in the gym and lost the extra pounds to regain his fitness.

After months of toils and disappointments in Ranji Trophy, things looked bleak for Raina fans expecting him to make a return to the national side.

However, the turning point came during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he scored a decimating 126* against Bengal. The CSK stalwart followed it up with a couple of half centuries (56,61) against Baroda and Tamil Nadu which earned him the much-awaited national call-up.

The renowned deputy of MSD, who was an integral part of Indian limited overs batting line for almost decade, turned back time with his three knocks in South Africa. His game-changing knock of 43 powered an Indian victory in the series finale.

Only time will tell whether Raina would make the cut into the ODI side on the back of impressive performances in the coming T20I season or is it too early for speculations.
