Well, after Indian former cricketers calling for a boycott against Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2019, the notable politician of India, Shashi Tharoor wants India to play Pakistan in the tournament. He believes that boycotting a game against Pakistan in the grand event isn’t a great thing to do.

The other night was one of the hard days to digest for the Indian citizen, as they lost the services of a few incredible persons working for the safety of the country. The suicidal bomb attack saw 44 CRPF jawans losing their lives at Pulwama.

Shock, grief and outrage spread across the nation. The globe with countries from the US to Russia condemning the attack. Pakistan has been blamed for the attack by India as well as the US, where the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed is based. In between, Pakistan has denied any wrongdoing.

It Would Be Worse Than Surrender – Shashi Tharoor

Shashi Tharoor says forfeiting a contest with Pakistan at the cricket World Cup this year would be “worse than surrender”. The Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram pointed to India’s World Cup win against Pakistan at the height of the Kargil War, and warned that forfeiting would be “defeat without a fight”.

He recollected the days when India played Pakistan in the world cup during the Kargil War. He feels that backing out from playing is the worse decision, which should not be the case for India at such a prestigious tournament.

”Reminder: at the height of the 1999 Kargil War, India played Pakistan in the cricket World Cup, & won. To forfeit the match this year would not just cost two points: it would be worse than surrender since it would be defeat without a fight,” he tweeted.

”Our government did not even declare national mourning wants to cancel a match 3 months from now? Is that a serious response to 40 lives taken in cold blood? BJP wants2divert attn from its own fecklessness&inept handling of the crisis. We need effective action, not gesture politics,” Shashi Tharoor added.

Well, Shashi Tharoor has got a valid point in his kitty. Backing out from such a big tournament is also a matter of national pride, as it will be followed across the globe. In order to become champions, India must beat every team in the competition.
