South Africa’s new ODI captain, Quinton de Kock has made it clear that the Proteas will continue to shine the ball with saliva amidst coronavirus threat.

Amid the ever-rising danger of the coronavirus outbreak with more than 50 positive cases in the country, South Africa will face India in a three-match ODI series.

The first game of the series will take place on March 12 at Dharamshala. The Proteas have reached Dharamshala and are seating it hard before the first ODI.

Quinton de Kock Aware Of Coronavirus Threat

“Obviously with the coronovirus, we understand what’s going on. Personal hygiene is a big thing. Wash your hands, where you cough and be aware of what you touch,” De Kock said.

“There’s some fine lines, but we have sat down and it seems like both teams are healthy. We’ve been tested on our way in here, so I’ll think we’ll shine the ball,” Quinton de Kock said

Bhuvneshwar Kumar Had Contrary Views

Earlier in the day, India’s pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar had contrary views to the South African skipper. Bhuvi admitted that India might refrain from using saliva to shine the ball due to the potential coronavirus threat.

“We have thought about this thing (not using saliva) but I can’t say right now we will not use saliva because if we don’t use saliva then how will we shine the ball. Then we will get hit and you people will say you are not bowling well,” the 31-year-old pacer said.
