Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has rubbished reports that which claimed he called Virender Sehwag‘s comment over the coaching snub as foolish.

Sehwag was one of the favourites to replace Anil Kumble as the head coach of India but eventually lost out against Ravi Shastri. And while he did not make any comment at that time, he recently made some sensational revelations even claiming that he did not get the job because he did not have any ‘setting’ in the BCCI.

“See, I didn’t have any setting,” Sehwag had told India Today. “When I was in England during the Champions Trophy, I had asked Ravi Shastri that why he hasn’t applied for the post? Shastri then told me that he will not repeat the mistake which he had already made once.”

“I never thought of coaching the Indian cricket team. I was given the offer… BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhury and MV Sridhar came to me and requested me to think on the offer. I took my time and then applied for the position,” he had added.

Media reports then suggested that Ganguly had criticised Sehwag for the comment.

“I’ve got nothing to say. Sehwag spoke foolishly ,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI.

However, the former captain took to Twitter to clear the air and said that he would speak to Sehwag soon to make things clear.

“My quote on Sehwag completely false ..right quote ..Sehwag very dear to me .will speak to him soon..,” Ganguly tweeted.
