Sanju Samson must have felt hard done by when the selectors announced India’s T20I and ODI squad for the upcoming series against West Indies. The MSK Prasad-led selection panel surprisingly dropped the highly-rated batsman from the squad even though he did not get any chance to prove himself. He was recalled into India’s T20I squad for the series against Bangladesh.

Sanju Samson had earned that call after his consistent performances in domestic circuit including a double-century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, he did not get any chance to play against Bangladesh before being dropped for the forthcoming series. Thus, the right-handed batsman will have to wait for some more time to prove himself.

Sanju Samson is no stranger to playing for India. He had earned his maiden India call-up way back in 2014 when he was just 18. The stylish batsman was included in the squad for the England tour but he could not make his debut. In the following year, he made his debut against Zimbabwe but was dropped after that tour and only earned another recall for the Bangladesh series.

Rajasthan Royals’ cheeky dig at BCCI:

A number of fans lashed out on the selectors after they announced the squad. The fans took to Twitter and other social media platform to express their disappointment over the decision to drop Sanju Samson. And Samson’s IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals also followed suit. The Royals took to Twitter to back their star player and took a dig at the BCCI with a cryptic message, writing:

“#gonnatellmykids this is how Sanju Samson destroys bowling attacks. ?”

India, meanwhile, will play three T20Is and as many ODIs against West Indies. The T20I series will start from December 6 in Mumbai. The team is currently busy preparing for the day-night Test against Bangladesh, starting today at the Eden Gardens.
