He might not be a big name in the international circuit, but he is already a millionaire as far as IPL bids are concerned. The player in question is none other than Krishnappa Gautham who was bought at a whopping Rs 6.20 crores by the inaugural champions of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals. He is also considered as the New Bhajji, but for the Royals, he is one and only Gowtham. He has a tremendous bowling record in both List A and T20’s and will surely be a player to watch out for on the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Gowtham was also bought by the Mumbai Indians for Rs 2 crores in the last year auction. However, he failed to get a game as the defending champions had a settled unit. Taking to their twitter handle, Rajasthan Royals shared a video showing the highs of Gowtham’s career and some information on his career.

“He may be the “New Bhajji” to some, but to us, he’s the one and only @gowthamyadav88! With astonishing bowling figures in both List-A and T20s, iske haathon mein hai dum! #Cricket #AbBajegaDanka #RoyalSquad #IPL2018 #HallaBol,” Rajasthan Royals wrote.

When Gowtham began his career, he had a striking resemblance to his idol Harbhajan Singh. He was even invited to bowl at the Australian nets during their tour of India in 2008. It was only because that Gowtham’s bowling action was similar to that of Bhajji’s. He cannot bowl the doosra as well as Bhajji but has a wide range of deliveries to make up for that.

Gowtham finished as the 2nd highest wicket-taker in the U-15 Zonal tournament but went on to represent Karnataka only after he was elevated to the U-22 category. He recalled that particular period in his life as his toughest in his cricketing career. He was later employed with the Vijaya Bank.
