Former Maharashtra star Rajesh Pawar has not played a first-class game since December 2013 but his latest performance in the Kanga League has shown he still has a lot to offer on the cricket field.
Leading Parkophene Cricketer, the left-arm spinner ran through Mumbai Police team ‘s line up, finishing with a record spell of 6 wickets in 6 overs without conceding a single run. Pawar’s sensational spell helped his side dismiss the Mumbai Police for a paltry 19 runs at the Kennedy Sea Face venue on Sunday (September 24).
The 38-year old, the chairman of the Under-19 Mumbai Selection Panel, made a mark with the ball in the second innings too, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs.
Delighted with his stunning performance, Pawar said: “No one has ever had such figures in the league. I have been playing in the Kanga league for over 15 years, I don’t know if I was lucky for conceding zero runs and taking six wickets.”
“I am not worried about getting selected for any domestic team, I am staying fit and if a chance comes, I will take it,” he added.
Pawar, who made his first class debut in 1996-97 season, represented Maharashtra in 84 first-class games and 36 List A games. He scored over 2200 runs in addition to taking 320 wickets. Pawar was also signed by Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League.
