It was a bitter-sweet match for Gautam Gambhir at Feroz Shah Kotla in Ranji Trophy 2018/19. In both the innings, Gambhir knocked the ball brilliantly, but unfortunately, on both occasions, he missed out on a big knock for his team. In the first innings, an umpiring blunder saw him walking back while in the second innings, his lazy running played a villain role.

As it happened in Ranji Trophy 2018/19:

It was in the second innings of Delhi when Hiten Dalal and Gambhir were pushing the score for a massive total on the board. During the course, Hiten knocked Rishi Dhawan down the mid-wicket for an easy couple of runs.

Gautam Gambhir, who was at the non-striker end took the things lightly while reaching to the crease. Meanwhile, the throw from the fielder was accurate and the bowler Rishi Dhawan was smart in dislodging the bails in a flash.

Subsequently, the run out has been sent up for the third umpire, who pressed the red button after a couple of rechecks. All in all, it was a poor display of cricket by the experienced campaigner of Delhi.

Match Progress:

Initially, after scoring 317 in the first innings, the hosts bowled their opponents out for 223 and therefore garnered a lead of 96 runs. Taking the lead, Delhi batsmen once again came good to sit on the driving position.

The vice-captain, Dhruv Shorey scored a brilliant century to set 375-run target for Himachal Pradesh to chase down. Meanwhile, the visitors lost their opener, Prashant Chopra to finish the day three by scoring 44 runs on the board.

So far, Dhruv Shorey and Mayank Dagar are the only performers from the match. The duo started the season well with big numbers in their kitty. They would hope to continue their fine form to impress the BCCI selectors.
