Ranji Trophy: Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma To Play For Delhi Versus Hyderabad

Shikhar Dhawan and Ishant Sharma are all set to feature for Delhi side in their next Ranji Trophy encounter against Hyderabad which starts on December 25. Shikhar Dhawan was not part of India’s set-up of late due to knee injury. His absence paved the way for KL Rahul to open alongside Rohit Sharma in T20I and ODI series against West Indies at home.

The star opener had a deep gash on his knee while playing in the Syed Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and had to get 25 stitches. However, he has now been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and will get some much-needed gameplay before the international games.

On the other hand, veteran pacer Ishant Sharma was given some rest for a couple of Ranji Trophy games as a part of Board of Control for India’s workload management programme. He will turn up for the next Ranji Trophy game and will give absolutely everything to get back into the groove ahead of the New Zealand Test tour.

“Ishant and Shikhar will be playing for Delhi. My colleague Sarandeep Singh will be watching that match,” said Prasad. As far as Jasprit Bumrah is concerned, he was out of cricketing action due to stress fractures and will feature in Gujarat’s game against Kerala.

India announced their squad for three-match ODI series against Australia at home. Shikhar Dhawan who was not part of the team squad recently has now been named in the 16-man squad. The first ODI will start in Mumbai (January 14) before Rajkot (January 17) and Bengaluru (January 19) host the other two games.
