Ranveer Singh Set To Play Kapil Dev's Role In Kabir Khan's Film

Bollywood heartthrob Ranveer Singh is reportedly in line to play the lead character in an upcoming Bollywood movie based on the 1983 Cricket World Cup. 

With biopics on cricketers being the flavour of the season, the fans can witness yet another film being made on a cricketer and this time the life of World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev is all set to be portrayed on the giant screen.

The last couple of years have seen films being made not only on cricketers but also on eminent personalities of other sports too. From Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to Mary Kom to Mohammed Azharuddin and MS Dhoni, the fans have witnessed some really top-notch biopics in recent times. Earlier this year, the biopic of Sachin Tendulkar also hit the theaters and was very well received by the fans.

Now if reports are to be believed then Ranveer will play the role of Kapil Dev in the movie which will be directed by Kabir Khan who has directed hits like New York, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Tubelight.

Famous Bollywood critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to state the news, writing:“#BreakingNews: Ranveer Singh will turn cricketer #KapilDev in Kabir Khan’s sports-based film… #1983 #WorldCup.”

One of the greatest cricketer of all time, Kapil Dev had led India India to its inaugural World Cup title in 1983. The first Indian bowler to cross the 400-wicket mark in Tests, Kapil Dev represented India in 131 Tests and 225 ODIs, scoring close to 9,000 runs and taking more than 600 wickets.
