SunRisers Hyderabad leg-spinner Rashid Khan was not amongst the wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi; however, was once again economical. SunRisers Hyderabad displayed a tidy bowling performance, restricting the Royal Challengers to 131 in 20 overs and chased it down with two balls to spare. Rashid Khan stated he is looking forward to the second qualifier against the Delhi Capitals.

After winning the toss, David Warner sent Virat Kohli’s men to bat first and they came straight under pressure. Virat Kohli, who opened the innings for the first time in IPL 2020, could not make his chance count, perishing for single-figure score and so did Devdutt Padikkal. AB De Villiers was the only one with a significant score as his 56 off 43 deliveries lead their side to a respectable 131. Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers, claiming figures of 4-0-25-3.

Keeper-batsman Sreevats Goswami perished in the first over for a duck; however, Skipper David Warner and Manish Pandey played some enterprising shots to keep themselves on track. Nevertheless, the spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Adam Zampa set them back in the middle overs after the departure of Warner. Kane Williamson and Jason Holder maintained a cool head, finding the timely boundaries as they put on an unbeaten 65 in 7.5 overs to script a victory with six wickets to spare.

Looking at the nervous moments against the Royal Challengers, Rashid Khan remembered the low-scoring thriller that they lost against Kings XI Punjab. However, he was glad that the Orange Army pulled it off and underlined that his bowling is all about keeping it simple by hitting the right areas. The Afghan-born stated that the wicket was sluggish and not skidding like the previous games. To conclude, the 22-year old highlighted the importance of doing the basics right against the Delhi Capitals at the same venue. Rashid Khan picked up figures of 4-0-22-0 and affected a run-out of Moeen Ali.

It was tough, it was the same kind of feeling like the game against KXIP. A game which is Eliminator, and that pressure as well. Thank god we won it. Just kept it very simple for myself, just hit a good area. As long as I’m hitting that area, I’m good. I’ve watched my videos and analysed that most of the time I’ve been hit when I bowl full. So I try to bowl the right areas. This wicket sometimes you get a skiddy kind of turn. Today it wasn’t that, it was a bit slow and not skidding as much as the last time we played here. You just have to keep it simple, back of a length. [Dube lbw] I think I got it, but the keeper and the guys from the back didn’t think so. We just need to do the basics right against Delhi and see what happens,” Rashid stated in the post-match presentation.
