It is a known fact that India and Pakistan have shared an intense rivalry and continue to on the field. But at the same time, all of them share massive respect for each other as well. Sachin Tendulkar, who has played some iconic innings in India-Pakistan matches, commands good respect amongst Pakistani players. His knock of 98 against them remains one of the elite ones. Former Pakistan keeper-batsman Rashid Latif names Sachin one of his most memorable opposition cricketers.

While speaking in youtube channel, Rashid Latif heaped praises on the former batting maestro, admitting that he never wished to dismiss Sachin as it was enjoyable to watch him bat. When standing behind the stumps, it was Sachin, amongst all the batsmen, who he cherished.

The 51-year old went on to admit that Sachin’s behaviour on the field was one of a kind. If he’d say something, the Indian legend’s response was to only laugh back instead of retaliating with words.

“Several players came to bat, when I used to keep. But when he used to come out to bat, my heart did not want him to get out. I used to enjoy watching him bat, while I was keeping. Not while watching him play on TV, but while I was standing behind the stumps.”

“Whether it was Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting or Jacques Kallis, I always felt like getting them out while I was keeping. Tendulkar’s behaviour was unique. Even if I say some thing from behind, he never would respond or say something back, he just kept laughing.” Rashid Latif said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

The Karachi-born cricketer picked former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin, who had a similar trait. Yet, he didn’t stop himself from admiring Tendulkar and remarked that even when attacking bowlers, he would never say a word and not be intimidated and react when sledged by the opposition. It is for this reason that Rashid Latif rates Sachin, who has the best on-field demeanour that most people remembers forever over anything else.

“Others used to react. He and Mohammad Azharuddin were like this. They used to make opposition’s players their own. This is why everyone admires Tendulkar, especially wicket-keepers. He would slam a hundred, he would be attacking bowlers, but he never said a word. And you are trying to rile him up as a keeper to get him out, but he would never react.”

“You play an innings, you leave. But one always remember your behaviour. In my opinion, he is at the top of the list of players who had the best on-field behaviour, and such players forever remain etched in your memories.” the 51-year old concluded.
