Of late, Kuldeep Yadav failed to make things fall in place, which saw him losing his spot in the playing XI as well. He wasn’t even considered for the two-match Test series against New Zealand, despite Ravi Shastri tagging him as the first-preferred choice for the Indian team in overseas conditions.

Only a year ago, he was looked upon as India’s best spin bowling option in overseas conditions, but a slump in form led to him losing that status.

Kuldeep’s last T20 match appearance came against Sri Lanka in January this year. He was given a chance to play in just one of the three ODIs in the New Zealand series in which India suffered a 0-3 whitewash.

Speaking of the same, Kuldeep stated that Shastri has helped him throughout his career – to make things fall in place. He added that Shastri always backed him whenever he played for the Indian National Cricket Team.

“(Coach) Ravi bhai backs me a lot. He is open to everything. Whatever cricket I played till date, he backed me a lot. It was a team decision keeping in mind the conditions,” Kuldeep said in a statement.

Not a sure-shot starter anymore, spinner Kuldeep is looking forward to cementing his spot in India’s T20 World Cup team with a sensational IPL season. He wants to deliver goods for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), to be the primary weapon in Australia during the mega event.

“I don’t feel anything went wrong. It depends on the combination. In New Zealand the wickets were quite different, you might have seen that there were no spin tracks in Tests. Moreover, it was not a long Test series as well,” Kuldeep Yadav said as quoted by Pune Mirror.

The T20 World Cup will be held in Australia from October 18 to November 15. Most likely, he would get the opportunity with long boundaries on offer.
