Ravi Shastri Echoes Sachin Tendulkar's Suggestion On Making The Use Of Helmets Mandatory At All Levels

Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian batsman, came up with a suggestion on Tuesday where he batted for the use of helmets to be made mandatory at professional levels.
Tendulkar alluded to the incident that took place during SunRisers Hyderabad- Kings XI Punjab encounter in the ongoing IPL, where Vijay Shankar was hit on his head courtesy a Nicholas Pooran’s throw when the former was running back to complete the run.
Luckily, Shankar survived but Sachin feels that the use of helmets must be made mandatory in order to avoid such incidents altogether.
“The game has become faster but is it getting safer? Recently we witnessed an incident which could’ve been nasty. Be it a spinner or pacer, wearing a HELMET should be MANDATORY for batsmen at professional levels. Request @icc to take this up on priority,” Sachin Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.

Sachin further went on to tag Team Indian head-coach Ravi Shastri where he reminded the latter about the instance where he was once hit on his head after he top-edged a Sunil Gavaskar full-toss during an exhibition game.
.@RaviShastriOfc, this also reminded me of the time when you got hit after top edging a full toss bowled by Mr. Gavaskar during an exhibition game. That could’ve been a grave injury too but thankfully wasn’t! ??

And, Ravi Shastri proceeded to reply by echoing Sachi Tendulkar’s suggestion of making the helmets mandatory at all levels before cheekily adding that he play Gavaskar’s full-tosses a ‘lot better’ now.
”You are dead right, @sachin_rt. Wearing of helmets should be mandatory at all levels. PS: I can now play Mr Gavaskar’s full tosses a lot better ?”Ravi Shastri responded.
