Ravi Shastri Thrilled On Sourav Ganguly's Appointment As BCCI President

When Sourav Ganguly was appointed as the president of BCCI, the move was welcomed from all quarters considering the former Indian captain remains to be one of the most widely respected cricketers across the globe. With a sharp cricketing brain, Ganguly seemed to be the perfect man to clear BCCI’s mess. In the meantime, a few of the fans also intrigued to see how Ravi Shastri reacts to the news.

Considering the past of Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri, fans were fascinated to witness a meeting between the duo. However, it seems that two of the legendary players of India have moved on from their past differences, as Ravi Shastri recently showered words of praise on Ganguly for his incredible work as a player and the administrator so far.

We played three years without a BCCI – Ravi Shastri

Speaking of the same with Boria Majumdar of India Today Consulting Editor Sports, Ravi Shastri said he was thrilled with Sourav Ganguly’s appointment as BCCI president. He also highlighted the point that the Indian team played for almost three years without the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“First of all, I am thrilled that there is a BCCI in place. We played three years without a BCCI,” Ravi Shastri said when he was asked about Sourav Ganguly’s appointment as BCCI president.

You always have pressure as a head coach –

Further, Ravi Shastri stated that the pressure factor will be there on the individual when he/she is coaching the Indian National Cricket Team. Shastri also expressed that he got every right in expressing his viewpoint on a specific issue of the Indian Cricket.

“I am the coach of an Indian cricket team. You feel the pressure. You are out there doing a job not to run away from a fight. You point one at me, there are three fingers pointing back at you, always remember that. People have every right to question what I have said, but for god sake, I have the right to say what I have to say as well,” Ravi Shastri said regarding the pressure of being India head coach.

During the tenure of Ravi Shastri, India won their first-ever Test series in Australia earlier this year after missing out on opportunities to beat England and South Africa on the road. Shastri’s side also became the first-ever Indian team to win an ODI series in South Africa when they beat the Proteas 2-1 in 2018. However, Ravi Shastri failed to lead India to victory in ICC events.
