Just a couple of years ago, Ravichandran Ashwin was an indispensable part of the Indian team across formats. But in mid-2017, Team India dropped him and Ravindra Jadeja to make room for young spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav and the senior spinner is yet to get a recall since then.

While Jadeja was recalled last year and is now an integral part of the T20I and ODI teams, Ravichandran Ashwin has not been that lucky. With Kuldeep and Chahal doing well, India have not really felt the need of the off-spinner. Ravichandran Ashwin continues to be the leader of the spin attack in Tests but has completely fallen down the pecking order in the limited-overs format.

Ravichandran Ashwin, nonetheless, has a fine record in white-ball cricket. He was a part of the Indian team that won the 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. He had also helped India make it to the final of the 2014 T20 World Cup and the semifinal of 2015 World Cup and 2016 T20 World Cup. His fall from grace has been really remarkable as well as disappointing but the spinner himself has no regrets over it.

Ravichandran Ashwin stated the same while he was interacting with the fans on Twitter during a question-answer session. One of the fans asked him whether he has any regrets over not being a part of the current ODI and T20I setup.

“any regrets for not being part of current ODI and twenty side of India ? Can we expect ur comeback to the team ??,” asked the fan.

In reply, Ashwin made it clear that he does not have any regret, writing:

“Never regret in life, all is well.”

Ashwin, meanwhile, will have a chance to prove himself in white-ball again when he plays for his new IPL side Delhi Capitals next year. Last month, Delhi Capitals secured his services during the trade window.
