ToggleIndia’s ace off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin has hailed Indian Prime Minister for holding a successful Janta Curfew in the entire nation on Sunday. Janta Curfew was an initiative taken by PM Narendra Modi to promote the idea of social distancing and self-isolation amid the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus in the country.
PM Modi appealed all the citizens of India to stay indoors from 7 AM till 9 PM on March 22 to reduce the risk of spreading the deadly virus, which has now resulted in 5 deaths in the country.
PM Modi also requested citizens to stand at balconies and near windows on Sunday evening to clap, ring bells to admire the emergency personnel and sanitation workers who are at the frontline in the fight against Covid-19.
PM Modi Initiates Janta Curfew
“Let us all be a part of this curfew, which will add tremendous strength to the fight against the COVID-19 menace,” Modi tweeted minutes before the curfew commenced. “The steps we take now will help in the times to come,” he said in the tweet.

The initiative got off to a great start with deserted roads and public places being witnessed all around the country since the curfew started.

India launched a 14-hour long curfew on Sunday to limit the fast-spreading coronavirus pandemic. PM Narendra Modi on Thursday urged all the citizens to stay indoors from 7 AM to 9 PM on March 22.
