Team India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, who was a part of the historic day-night Test between India and Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in Kolkata will now fly to Surat to feature for his state Tamil Nadu in the semifinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019. Tamil Nadu will play Rajsthan on November 29 (Friday) at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat.

The addition of the veteran spinner will be a massive addition to the squad who are in hunt of their first trophy of the season after missing the Vijay Hazare Trophy by a whisker. Tamil Nadu topped Group B to progress through to the semifinal winning five of their six group games. They have some quality cricketers in their ranks led by the ever-reliant Dinesh Karthik, who is looking to make his way back into India’s T20 squad.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan will not be an easy opponent with Deepak Chahar in devastating form with both bat and ball. But Tamil Nadu will be high on confidence after defeating Rajasthan in the league match. They restricted Rajasthan to 116 after posting 155 on the scoreboard in their quota of 20 overs after asked to bat first. Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin will slot into the playing XI directly as Tamil Nadu will be keen to keep their title hopes alive.

Ashwin had a good series against Bangladesh; although, he had no role to play with the ball in the second innings with the pacers dominating the proceedings. The cricketer took to social media site Instagram to inform his fans that he will be flying to Surat where Tamil Nadu will play their semifinal clash against Rajasthan. Ravichandran Ashwin posted a picture and wrote that it feels sad to leave the daughters at home.

“It’s so much fun with them, and much harder to say good byes than ever before. They asked me when I will come back from Surat,” Ashwin wrote along with a picture.
