Former India spinner Dilip Doshi has stated Ravindra Jadeja is the best all rounder India have across formats. Well, it would not be wrong to say that Ravindra Jadeja is currently the only spinner who is among the scheme of things in all the three formats.

As far as other spinners are concerned, they have struggled to find a place in the team in all the formats. Kuldeep Yadav is a regular in limited-overs cricket but the same cannot be said about the Test format. On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin has not found a place in ODI and T20I teams since 2017 while Yuzvendra Chahal is yet to break into the Test team.

But while Ravindra Jadeja has been a regular feature in the squads for all the formats, he does not get chances in the playing eleven consistently. On the tour of New Zealand earlier this year which was the last time Team India played before the lockdown began, Ravindra Jadeja played 3 of the five T20Is.

In the ODI series, he played all the three games before being dropped for the first Test of the two-match series. Doshi said that he considers Ravindra Jadeja as the best of the lot and opined that he would never leave him out of the playing eleven.

“I consider him best among the lot. I will play him all the time,” said the former spinner about Ravindra Jadeja on an online chat session with the Playwrite Foundation.

Doshi also praised Kuldeep Yadav, “Kuldeep is a great talent. The more he bowls, the better he will become.”

Recently, cricketing almanac Wisden recently named Jadeja as India’s Most Valuable Player in Test cricket in the 21st century.  The India all-rounder with a rating of 97.3 was also rated as the second most valuable Test player worldwide with Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan at the top.

“After all, he’s not even always an automatic pick in their Test team. However, when he does play he is picked as a frontline bowler and has batted as high as No 6 —contributing to a very high match involvement,” reported Wisden quoting CricViz’s Freddie Wilde.
