Team India’s T20I squad for Bangladesh series was on the expected lines with Ravindra Jadeja’s absence only surprise in the squad. Jadeja, who has been in phenomenal form since World Cup 2019, was dropped from the squad as Yuzvendra Chahal made his comeback.

The update came as a big surprise and former India cricketer Irfan Pathan was also left surprised with the Jadeja’s absence. “Who else is surprise not to see @imjadeja in the t 20 vs Bangladesh ? He is batting the tallest in his career at the moment…,” he wrote on Twitter.

Following his return in the white-ball cricket last year, Jadeja has done well which saw him force his comeback into the T20I side for the tour of West Indies. It was after two years that Jadeja was included in the T20I squad.

In four matches since his comeback, he has scored 38 runs in three outings and has scalped two wickets. While the numbers do suggest his dropping was the right move, even Krunal Pandya has struggled of late.

Washington Sundar is now another spin-bowling all-rounder in the T20I squad and it remains to be seen whether India will have more all-rounders for World Cup or will they call back regular spinners.

Apart from Jadeja, there was Kuldeep Yadav in the squad as well. The 24-year-old was dropped from the T20I squad after World Cup 2019. He has kept his place in the Test side but hasn’t played a T20I since the New Zealand tour earlier this year.

Chahal was also kept out of the T20I side for West Indies and South Africa series but he made his comeback.

Shivam Dube earned his maiden national call-up in the absence of Hardik Pandya. The Mumbai all-rounder was expected to be called up following his superlative performances in domestic cricket.

Sanju Samson also forced his comeback into the T20I side. The youngster had got his maiden call-up for England tour back in 2014 and made his T20I debut in 2015 against Zimbabwe.

The three T20Is between India and Bangladesh will be played on November 3, 7 and 10 with the first T20I to be played in Delhi.
