Former English opener, Michael Carberry is in line to take legal action against his county side, Leicestershire after he got sacked from captaincy following a poor start to the season for his county.

If reports in the cricket.com.au are to be believed, Carberry is looking to take legal actions against the county. It was last month that Leicestershire issues a statement which mentioned Carberry got dropped as a captain.

The decision was taken after an investigation which took place after a one-day thrashing at the hands of Nottinghamshire.

“Following a review of the early part of the season by (head coach) Paul Nixon, a decision has been made to relieve Michael Carberry of the captaincy. Paul Horton will take over as club captain with immediate effect. The club will not be making any further comment,” a club statement read.

As per reports in the Daily Mail, Carberry was preparing to stay with the squad ahead of their next assignment against Derbyshire. However, he has now been advised by a board member it would be an inappropriate move on his part.

No prior warning was given to Carberry

The report further stated the legal representatives of Carberry would now approach Leicestershire on the matter on Monday. It was also claimed that no prior warning was given to Carberry.

The southpaw has played six Tests and seven ODI’s for the national team. However, he has not played since the defeat at the hands of Nottinghamshire.

At that point in time, Leicestershire had lost just one match and was sitting in the 6th position in the County Championship Division two with four points under their belt. Following that match, Leicestershire won a 50 over contest from six matches. They defeated Northamptonshire in their return to county action.

Meanwhile, it must be noted that Carberry joined Leicestershire just a year ago.
