Revealed: The Amount Donated By Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma For Fight Against Coronavirus

Power couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, on Monday, joined the fight against the coronavirus pandemic by pledging to donate money to the PM CARES fund and Maharashtra’s CM Relief Fund. India’s cricket fraternity has acted exemplary during these testing times by coming forward to help the country.

Last week, the BCCI announced that it would donate Rs 51 crore for the cause. The likes of Suresh Raina, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan and others have also joined the fight against the pandemic that has been wreaking havoc all across the world.

Virat Kohli took to Twitter to announce the humanitarian gesture from him and his wife.

“Anushka and I are pledging our support towards PM-CARES Fund and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many and we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of out fellow citizens #IndiaFightsCorona,” wrote Virat Kohli in his tweet.

The amount:

While Virat Kohli revealed that he and his wife have pledged to donate money, he did not reveal the amount the couple paid. Well, according to the reports in Bollywood Hungama, an industry source close to the couple said that the couple has decided to donate Rs 3 crore jointly to the cause.

Meanwhile, cricket activities around the world has been halted due to the pandemic. Earlier this month, the BCCI called off the three-match ODI series against South Africa and also suspended the IPL till April 15. A final decision on the IPL 2020 is being expected in the next two weeks. Media reports suggest that the thirteenth edition of the IPL is all but cancelled.
