Revealed: The Prize Money Of The Winning Team, Runners-Up Of IPL 2019

The twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just one game away from coming to an end. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will fight it out for the ultimate prize in Hyderabad on Sunday.  The Mumbai-Chennai rivalry is arguably the fiercest and most enthralling rivalry in the history of the IPL and the fans could not have asked for a better finale.

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the only two teams to have won the IPL thrice. Mumbai had entered the final after beating the Super Kings in the first qualifier. On the other hand, Super Kings thrashed Delhi Capitals by six wickets in the second qualifier to seal their spot in the final. The upcoming game is the fourth final between Mumbai and Chennai.

The first final between these two teams had taken place in 2010 which Chennai had won to claim their first IPL title. However, Mumbai beat Chennai in 2013 and 2015 to take the upper hand.  The momentum is also in Mumbai’s favour as they have won their last three games.  Chennai, on the other hand, have lost two of their last three games. Moreover, both the teams have already met thrice this season with Mumbai winning on all the occasions comfortably.

But with so much at stake, one can definitely expect Chennai to give Mumbai a run for their money this time and so fireworks are guaranteed this evening. Meanwhile, the teams will be fighting it out not only for the trophy and reputation but also a huge amount of money. The ongoing season of the IPL will see the official payout being around Rs. 50 crores. The 50 per cent of the prize money will go to the team while the rest will be distributed among the players. The winner of IPL 2019 will earn a whopping Rs 25 crore, whereas the runners-up will get Rs 12.5 crore.

The third and fourth placed team – Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will pocket Rs 10.5 crore and Rs 8.5 crore respectively.
