Well, the fans would be disappointed to know that neither Ganguly nor Sehwag are eligible to apply for the post. The BCCI has some eligibility criteria for the candidates who wish to become India coach.

Here are those conditions:

years OR;
o Head Coach of an Associate member /IPL or Equivalent International
Leagues/First Class Teams/ National A teams, for a minimum period
of 3 years
● Should have played a minimum of 30 Test Matches OR 50 ODIS OR;
o Should have BCCI Level 3 Certification or equivalent

Well, both Ganguly and Sehwag are below 60 years of age and have played more than 30 Tests. However, neither of the two have coached any international team. Sehwag managed Kings XI Punjab but for a brief period of time and that too not entirely as head coach. On the other hand, Ganguly’s only experience in the backroom staff is serving as the mentor of Delhi Capitals in 2019 IPL. Thus neither of the two legendary players can apply for the post.
