Revised Total For Pakistan If Rain Play Spoilsport As India Post Big Total

Contrasting to the Weather forecast, the rain did not spoil the start of the ongoing clash between India and Pakistan in Manchester. There were prediction of 50 percent chances of rainfall at the time the toss was scheduled. However, clear sky welcomed the teams and the fans as the two fierce rivals resumed their rivalry on the cricket field.

The game started on a good note for Pakistan as their skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and decided to bowl first. However, his bowlers just could not justify the decision. Rohit Sharma and his new opening partner KL Rahul looked solid at the crease right from the start. Rohit played the aggressor early on while Rahul looked more than happy to play the second fiddle.

The two mixed caution with measured aggression to power India to a solid start. By the time the tenth over ended, India had raced away to 53 without the loss of any wicket. The two soon went on to score their respective fifties. The partnership came to an end when Rahul drove a Wahab Riaz delivery straight to Babar Azam in covers. The right-handed batsman scored 57 and added 136 runs for the first wicket.

The much-needed breakthrough, nonetheless, did not bring any respite for Pakistan as Rohit and Virat Kohli batted India to a position of strength.  Rohit and Kohli added 98 runs for the second wicket before Hasan Ali sent back the former. Prior to departing, Rohit played a sublime knock of 140. It was his second century of the ongoing tournament. Rohit also broke Kohli’s record of highest score by a player in India-Pakistan games during the World Cup. Kohli had scored 107 in the last World Cup.

Kohli, nonetheless, soon went on to complete his fifty. But before he and India could shift gears, rains arrived. It started pouring heavily and the umpires had no option but to take the players back in the pavilion. India were 305 for 4 in 46.4 overs with Kohli and Vijay Shankar in the middle. With the weather forecast for the entire day not very promising, the DLS method can come into play.

Thus if India do not bat again, Pakistan will have to chase 327 in 46 overs. If the game is reduced to 20 overs, the Men in Green will have to chase down 184.
