Australia’s veteran and World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting was in high spirits when he took to the cricket field after a long time in the Bushfire Cricket Bash on Sunday. The Bushfire Cricket Bash was an initiative by Cricket Australia (CA) to raise funds for the victims of the recent spread bushfires that affected a major part of Australia. Well, the legends of the game took to field in the game as Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist led the two sides.

Ponting XI won the game by 1 run but there were several hilarious moments on the field during the entire game. Legends including Matthew Hayden, Brian Lara, Adam Gilchrist, and many more took to the field at the Junction Oval in Melbourne.

Windies veteran Lara entertained the spectators with some interesting shots all over the ground. Lara played with a strike rate of 272.73 as he scored 30 runs off the 11 balls he played.

Fans and spectators were amused by the various hilarious incidents that took place during the game.

One such incident was when Ponting while batting ran after Courtney Walsh’s delivery that was too wide outside the off stump.

To be precise, the ball slipped out of Walsh’s hand which eventually saw Ponting chasing the delivery.

CA tweeted the video of the same and fans all across the globe are having a good laugh at the incident.

The Bushfire Cricket Bash proved to be an entertaining affair on Sunday. Ponting XI scored 104 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 10 overs. Chasing the target, Gilchrist XI scored 102 and lost the game by 1 run. It was exciting to see the legends of the game compete for a noble cause on the field.

The ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar turned all heads when he padded up to face an over against Ellyse Perry during the half-way break. The best part about the game was that it raised $7.7 million to help bushfire victims.
