Rishabh Pant has been drafted in the India A squad for their upcoming four-day matches in England.

The series will get underway from July 4. Pant is currently a part of the limited-overs team which is playing the triangular ODI series versus Windies A and hosts England. The southpaw began the series with a sparkling half-century but has failed to do well since.

Pant was picked in the team after a sensationa IPL season for the Delhi Daredevils this year. While his team finished at the bottom of the points table, the young wicketkeeper-batsman looked in red-hot form throughout the season.

Pant ended as the second highest run-getter in the tournament with 684 runs from 14 games. It included five fifties and one century.

His exploits helped him win being named the Emerging Player of IPL 11. The hard-hitting also scooped another award –  the Stylish Player Award.

Pant will be looking to do well to get into the selectors’ eyes. He had made his international debut last year but had failed to perform.

Meanwhile, India A will take on England Lions in the final on Monday.

After that,  they will play a couple of Unofficial Tests versus the Windies A in Beckenham and Taunton respectively. Karun Nair will lead the side.

Thereafter, they will move to Worcester where they will lock horns with the England Lions in their only four-day fixture from July 16.
