Team India’s wicket-keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has attracted a lot of criticisms from all spheres for his poor outings with the gloves. In a bid to fill in the gaps, Pant is likely to work with specialist coaches to improve his skills, revealed chairman of the national selection panel, MSK Prasad.

Pant has been under the scanner ever since he made his international debut for his poor wicket-keeping skills. Previously, he had worked with former India wicket-keeper Kiran More to pull up the socks but is far from achieving the perfect level. Rishabh Pant once again spilt a few chances in the third and the final ODI against West Indies in Cuttack, and once again the fans lashed out at him.

Soon after the bashing, outgoing national selector MSK Prasad came in rescue of the struggling wicket-keeper. Accepting that Rishabh Pant needs to improve, Prasad revealed that the cricketer from Delhi will work with specialist wicket-keepers to improve his technique.

“Pant needs to improve his keeping skills. We will have him work under a specialist wicket-keeping coach,” Prasad told reporters.

Despite all the criticisms, Rishabh Pant has found the support of his skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri. The management has also backed him and has retained him in the playing XI to help him find his form and deal with the pressure situations. Moreover, the BCCI President and former skipper Sourav Ganguly firmly backed Pant, saying the wicketkeeper-batsman is a superb player who would mature slowly.
