The stylish southpaw of the Indian National Cricket Team Rishabh Pant has been one of the most debated cricketers in the country. He became an often headliner in the Indian cricket for his poor performances on the field. Now, once again, he gets attention, as the batting coach Vikram Rathour called him a major asset for the team when he starts scoring runs for the team.

While the youngster has received immense backing from the selectors and team management, Rishabh Pant has failed to live up to the hype with a series of disappointing performances. Ahead of the three-match ODI series against West Indies starting from December 15 (Sunday), Team India batting coach Vikram Rathour has revealed why the selectors and team management are backing pant.

Rishabh Pant will be a massive player for India – Vikram Rathour

India batting coach Vikram Rathour on Saturday backed underfire Risabh Pant and felt the young stumper carries immense ability, and once he starts getting runs, he will be a ‘massive player’. Further, the batting coach strongly disagreed with the idea to drop Rishabh Pant from the team.

“The reason why we keep discussing him is because he has got immense ability and everybody believes that he can be an x-factor in any team and in the Indian team as well. He has been backed by the selectors and the team management because all of us believe that he is a good player… Once he starts getting runs, I am sure, he will be a massive player,” Vikram Rathour said.

“I don’t think the time has arrived yet. Again, he is working on certain things. He is looking good in the nets. He has been decent in the T20s. He was asked to do a certain job in the last T20 which he did. That’s what the team looks for,” the batting coach said.

In the last 15 innings that he has got the chance to bat in, Rishabh Pant has scored just one half-century and has eight single-digit scores in them. In the last three games against West Indies, Pant scored 18, 33* and 0. However, Rishabh Pant has got all the skills to become the match-winner for India.
