Rishabh Pant Will Serve Indian Cricket for Long, Says Coach Tarak Sinha

Coach of Rishabh Pant, Tarak Sinha expressed delight over his wards improvement while adding the wicketkeeper-batsman will serve the purpose of the national team.

The southpaw Pant was able to earn his maiden call-up in the Indian Test squad for England on Wednesday (18 July).

Sinha said that Pant is a hard-working cricketer and has given his best during the training sessions. Pant’s coach said that the batsman has improved his glovework considerably.

In fact, Sinha asked him to concentrate more on his wicketkeeping skills.

Sinha said that Pant is never uncompromising as far as working hard in the nets is concerned. 

“He had improved on his wicketkeeping considerably. I had insisted that he had to be a good keeper first and then back it with his batting. He has been uncompromising as far as hard work is concerned. Never late for training and always attentive. Believe me, he will serve Indian cricket long and serve it well,” The Hindu quoted Sinha as saying.

In fact, Sinha was himself a keeper in his playing days. Furthermore, Rishabh has also worked with India A coach Rahul Dravid, who is playing a key role in polishing the Indian young talent.

Sinha added he worked on Pant’s temperament before he left for England.

“Before he left for England, I worked on his temperament and drilled home the point that he must learn to be patient. Temperament is the key if a player has to stand up to challenges. Rishabh has been a disciplined member of our club and brings lot of passion to his batting,” noted Sinha.

Meanwhile, as Wriddhiman Saha was ruled out from the England series, it opened the selection gates for Delhi-based cricketer Pant. In fact, the combative batsman is added to the squad as a backup keeper to Dinesh Karthik.

Rishabh Pant will hope to prove his mettle if he will get his chance in the playing XI. Furthermore, Pant’s experience with India A side while playing in English conditions will also aid him.

India will take on England in the first Test match from August 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
